Borchers: A Milliken Brand, to highlight robust applications data, performance and sustainable additives at the American Coatings Show in Indianapolis

March 14, 2022 | Events

Now part of Milliken & Company, the Borchers brand is pleased to showcase its latest technologies in Booth 2638 at the American Coatings Show (ACS) that will take place April 5-7 at the Indiana Convention Center.

Founded in 1807 as a chemical business, Borchers has grown into a global provider of performance additives for the coatings, inks, and adhesives markets. Milliken acquired the company in 2020 and announced last August its rebranding to “Borchers: A Milliken Brand.”

The 2022 show in Indianapolis will offer the first in-person opportunity for Borchers: A Milliken Brand to display some of its newest products and data at this industry-leading event, which canceled its 2020 physical show due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Among the highlights are:

  • Borchi® OXY-Coat 1101 high-performance catalyst—Check out the new, robust test data that shows this drier catalyst outperforming cobalt carboxylates in both interior and exterior architectural trim coatings formulated with multiple common USA waterborne alkyd resins. The results indicate faster drying and expanded application windows in medium oil, short oil, medium soybean oil and oil-modified polyurethane resin formulations; better blocking than 50% of leading acrylic trim paint brands; improved durability of the trim allowing the formula to expand into industrial applications; easy cleaning of stains and improved scrub performance; and superior ability to withstand direct sunlight which expands use across the whole color space. Joshua Halstead, Global Applications Development Manager, Borchers: A Milliken Brand, will be discussing this topic in a technical presentation during Session 6 of the conference that will be taking place during the show.
  • Borchi® DragonThis high-performance catalyst improves performance in high-solids, low-VOC alkyd coatings. Excellent for wood and industrial coating applications, Borchi Dragon provides faster dry times, brighter whites, enhanced wrinkling prevention in thick film builds, good corrosion resistance and better wet adhesion compared to traditional cobalt driers. The product, which is making its ACS debut, is cobalt-free, REACH-compliant and reduces the need for through driers, making it a more sustainable solution than cobalt driers.
  • Borchi® Burst—First introduced last August, these defoamers for architectural coating applications effectively eliminate macro and micro air bubbles, making it the perfect choice during all stages of manufacturing and application. Currently available in the Americas, these products are designed for semigloss and flat finishes and for waterborne, solvent borne and solvent-free systems. They can be used across a variety of formulations. Borchi Burst has been shown to outperform competitors in various resin formulations, providing maximum performance at a great value.

Borchers invites media members, customers and anyone needing products such as these to stop by Booth 2638 to meet company officials and learn more about how these technologies can help your business.
