Manganese based driers promote both surface and through-drying properties and are usually used in
combination with cobalt. Because of its inherent color, Manganese is more suitable in pigmented coatings
systems as it may cause discoloration in pale-colored or clear coatings. Drying is severely inhibited in high
humidity conditions.Manganese is the second most effective metal after Cobalt in making metal carboxylate
driers for surface dry in oxidatively cured systems. It also promotes through dry but can be used with Cobalt
and secondary driers like zirconium, barium or zinc, for complete drying of the paint film

  • Applications

    12% Manganese Hex-Cem® LC driers are octoate metal salts and are designed for solventborne coatings only. They are are used in all oxidatively cured systems, whether air or force dried. They are used in architectural paints, industrial coatings and stains to promote surface and through drying properties.

  • Dosage

    In conventional alkyd formulations, the Manganese addition is between 0.01 and 0.05 % metal based on the vehicle solids of the coating and will vary depending upon the composition of the binder.12% Manganese Hex-Cem® LC can also be combined with Zirconium and Calcium driers for optimum surface and through dry. The specific drier blend should be experimentally determined.

  • Storage

    Protect from the effects of weathering and store at temperatures below 50 °C. Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each use.
