In terms of its effect, manganese is the most important drier metal after cobalt.

  • Supply Form

    Octa-Soligen® driers are based on metal salts of 2-ethylhexanic acid (octoates) or their isomers.

  • Properties

    It promotes both surface and through-drying and is usually used in combination with cobalt. Manganese is suitable above all for pigmented coating systems as, because of its inherent color, it may cause discoloration in pale-colored or clear coatings. High atmospheric humidity severely inhibits the effect of manganese.

  • Applications

    It is used in conventional architectural paints, wood coatings, printing inks and other industrial coatings.

  • Dosage

    In our experience, the percentage addition of manganese, calculated on the metal content per solid binder, is approx. 0.01 – 0.05 % Mn. The exact amount required depends on the binder used should always be
    determined in preliminary trials.

  • Storage

    Protect from the effects of weathering and store at temperatures between 5 and 30 °C.

    Once opened, containers should be resealed immediately after each removal of the product.
